Isabel Castillo

4/9/2024

Isabel Castillo
Isabel Castillo is an activist, organizer, and former “DACAmented” immigrant from Mexico. With the National Immigrant Youth Alliance, Isabel helped organize sit-ins, rallies, and actions to try and get the DREAM act passed and change the living conditions of undocumented immigrants in the US.

Residing now in Lancaster, Isabel uses her dedication to justice to support the mission of eliminating racism and empowering women as the Director of the Center for Racial and Gender Equity at YWCA Lancaster. After 30 years of living in the U.S., Isabel continues to work for a world where communities are empowered to make decisions in society and to speak for themselves. She believes in restorative justice embedded in anti-oppression and brings that practice to her work every day.

Isabel holds a Bachelor's of Social Work and Master's of Conflict Transformation from Eastern Mennonite University, and also received an honorary doctorate degree from the University of San Francisco for her unwavering organizing and advocacy. When she’s not building power with the community, Isabel is spending time with her family and playing soccer.
