Afghan Refugee Resettlement Assistance Program

Helping Afghan Refugees

Our Mission is to help families in crisis.
To this end, we are partnering with Church World Service (CWS) to help with the resettlement of Afghan refugees who have begun arriving in Lancaster in the last few days. It is expected that about 20 refugees will arrive in each of the next 6 months.

These families usually arrive with just the shirts on their back. CWS works to find them housing, furnishings to create a home, jobs, and access to English language instruction, among other things. JFS is organizing a drive within the entire Jewish community to collect specific items we were advised are most critical to these refugees as they get settled. At the bottom of this flyer, are lists of “kits” and what is needed in them.
