“Thank you for helping me and my baby” Julie said suppressing a cry in her voice, after JFS paid her delinquent water bill. “Thank you for helping me” Esther said with great relief, who until her JFS Senior Advocate volunteer arrived at her door, depended on a friend to deliver bottled water and groceries. “Thank you so much for helping my dad get around in his apartment” Joe said smiling broadly, as he picked up a walker from the JFS Durable Medical Equipment Loan Closet.
Thank you…thank you…thank you…words our JFS volunteers hear daily from community residents who, like Julie, have lost jobs and find themselves in a financial crisis; from seniors, like Esther, living alone or recovering from injuries; and from people like Joe’s dad, just released from the hospital, needing walkers, wheelchairs, and bed side commodes.
Now it’s our turn to say thank you – to you – our donors – who consistently choose Jewish Family Service of Lancaster to respond to community need. So far, this year:
Lily Montague’s writings express where JFS of Lancaster is at this moment in time…
“As soon as your lives have been touched by aspiration…all your windows are thrown open and the light of infinite hope enters. Then the community demands your help, and you dare not say, ‘Why bother?’”
Our community is demanding your help. Without you – without your donations, there would be many more in our community left vulnerable to situations and forces that tragically impact lives.
Your generous donation to JFS will help fulfill our vision of a community where families and individuals can enjoy the freedom of good health and a comfortable home.

Now it’s our turn to say thank you – to you – our donors – who consistently choose Jewish Family Service of Lancaster to respond to community need. So far, this year:
- You helped 65 residents like Julie with financial assistance
- You donated durable medical equipment to help twenty-two individuals like Joe’s dad
- You, along with the Lancaster County Community Foundation, made it possible for us to create JFS Senior Care Services and bring a Professional Care Manager and home care services to our community’s seniors like Esther. We are hoping to serve at least 60 seniors this first year at a cost of at least $25,000
